Science Activity
Date:- 22nd and 25th April 2026
Teacher Incharge:- Mrs Meeta Sah
Science activity was organized for both the sections of grade 5 on the topic parts of a flower. The aim of the activity was to introduce students to the anatomy of the flower and functions of its reproductive parts. The students worked in pairs. They were able to identify the 4 main parts of the flower sepals, petals, stamen and carpels. They understood the functions of each part. The students were also able to differentiate between monosexual and bisexual flowers. They understood that all flowers are not of similar kind, some had both the reproductive parts while some flowers had either of the one. They also developed observational and analytical skills through hand on dissection. The student successfully identified the key reproductive structure of the flower. Many remarked on how sticky the stigma was facilitating the landing of pollens. Through cooperation, pairs were able to effectively dissect the specimen and map out its anatomy. This activity provided a clear understanding of the reproductive process in flowering plants, moving beyond textbook knowledge to hand on exploration. The collaborative approach and think pair and share technique increased student’s engagement and facilitated peer to peer learning.
