Description: Elocution
“Poem is a whisper of imagination that grows louder in every listener’s mind.”
The Elocution Competition for the junior school, featuring students from Classes 3 to 5, was conducted at St. Joseph’s College on 29th September 2025.This year’s event continued its mission of encouraging confident speaking, nurturing stage presence, building teamwork, and helping young learners express their thoughts with clarity and charm.
Students from Classes 3, 4, and 5 participated with spirited enthusiasm, showcasing their ability to bring poems alive through voice and expression. To add a joyful beginning to the programme, children from Classes 1 and 2 presented delightful poetry recitations. Their performances, though not competitive, brought innocence, imagination, and colour to the stage—proof that poetry can make even the smallest voices sound magical.

• Class 3A: Stomachache Supreme- Geraldine Nicholas.
• Class 3B: O Captain! My Captain! – Walt Whitman
• Class 4A: I Should Have Stayed In Bed Today – Jack Prelutsky
• Class 4B: Try Try Again – William Edward Hickson
• Class 5A: The Spider And The Fly- Mary Howitt
• Class 5B: The Alice Jean – Robert Graves
The esteemed judging panel—Mrs. R. Gururani, Mrs. J. Sah and Mr. R. Bhatt—evaluated each performance on expression, unity, pronunciation, clarity, and presentation.
Winners:
• First Place: Class 4A
• Second Place: Class 3A
• Third Place: Class 3B
The 2025 Elocution Competition proved to be an inspiring showcase of young talent. It was evident that both students and teachers dedicated great effort to perfecting their recitations. The event celebrated the joy of poetry, strengthened students’ public-speaking skills, and encouraged them to explore the beauty of words—reminding everyone that a poem becomes truly alive when spoken from the heart.
